created Urban Ocean to encourage, educate and empower you on and off the water.
Passionate About Inspiring others Harmony grew up in and on the water with her love of the outdoor beach lifestyle leading her to start a business in 2009.
As a multi-certified instructor, Harmony has spent the last 12 years traveling internationally to teach instructor certifications, lead retreats and compete as a stand up paddle athlete in some of the world's largest sup races.
As the founder of Ottawa & The Valley's first stand up paddle company, Harmony has passionately put Canada's Capital Region on the Stand Up paddle map, leading the way in Eastern Canada with classes offered year-round from the Mississippi, Rideau and Ottawa River's to the cities warmest pool.
Now living in the United States, Harmony has teamed up with her husband legendary Whitewater Pioneer, Dan Gavere, to create SUP Adventures in Florida, Oregon, and Maui.
Harmony uses breath work not only to help find stability on the ripples the paddle board creates when moving thru her yoga practice, but also to help focus as she takes her board down whitewater rapids. Her classes will challenge and inspire both the first time and experience alike.

From a young age, Kharma, could be found swimming in the backyard pond of their Ottawa Valley home or exploring the options of playing with new friends such as lizards and porcupines!
When Harmony began stand up paddling in 2009 there was no keeping this adventurous water lover on the beach, despite trying to leave her there to babysit the kitten she had befriended.
Instead, Kharma taught Monster ( the kitten) to be a paddle cat.
These two fur friends enjoyed their time on the water so much they once played with a faucet and then sat on the couch and watched as the water rose around them flooding the basement overnight!
While an accident left Kharma with a physical disability her strong spirit and determination had her bounding with joy at the opportunity to paddle, often letting herself out of the house to go for a swim with the dolphins at their Florida home and having Harmony and her husband paddling out after her.
Kharma was known to get her way, from which board she rode to insisting she gets to go on the whitewater rapids too. She was inspiring with her friendly puppy-like personality on the beach to her big smile as she laid on a board dangling her paws in the water while she watched classes from her board.
We all paddle for a reason: to find clarity, to find our power, to find the best version of ourselves.
We paddle to feel strong in our bodies, our heads, and our hearts. We paddle to connect to our community, and we paddle to find the fun in the everyday. We paddle because the feeling we have when we're done can't be measured on a scale.
This is more than a workout. This is our lifestyle.
We provide education with emphasis on safety, technique, and fun!
We appreciate each individual's unique capabilities and strive to give each person the attention they deserve. We foster self-confidence, community spirit, and an active, healthy lifestyle for our paddlers.
